Science project model can take up a lot of time and effort to make. Not only do they need to be creative, they also need to function in order to explain the whole point of the scientific phenomena chosen. The science project model can take up a lot of time along with being a little tedious. When a child has a science project to submit, the parent starts fretting and worrying. But you don?t have to do it anymore! With these easy yet working science project models, you can explain scientific phenomena easily.

1. Colour changing milk model

This science project model teaches the kids to understand a lot about molecules at work.

All you need-

? Plate

? Milk

? Dish washing soap

? Food colouring in variant colours- example, red, green, yellow and blue

? Cotton swabs

To make this science project model work, you can begin by-

? Pour down the milk on the dinner plate until it reaches the depth of atleast 1/4th inch. Let the milk settle down and be devoid of any waves or such.

? Now gently drop a single drop of food colouring to the milk. All four variety of food colouring can be dropped slowly. But make sure that you drop them close enough at the centre of the plate full of milk.

? Without disturbing anything, grab a cotton swab and gently touch it on the middle of the plate where the food colouring is dropped. Do not stir or disturb the milk. Simply gently touch it. Observe what happens and note down the specifications.

? Now, take another end of the cotton swab and dip it inside the dish washing soap. Now dip the soapy part of the cotton swab in the middle of the milk and hold it in the position for 15 to 20 seconds. Now again observe what happens.

? The colours will burst and the milk will change the colour.

? You can even place the cotton swab with soap on different parts of the milk, but the colours will continue to burst. Even when the cotton swab is removed, the colours continue moving.

2. Periscope

This science project model acts like a periscope and shows how it can be used in pool or like a corner.

All you need-

? Circular shaped mirrors- 2

? 2 PVC pipes that are of 12 inches section. The diameter of one is taken larger than other one in order to easily slide up and down.

? Two elbow joints are taken for fitting the pipes

? Adhesive putty to bind

To make this science project model work, you can begin by-

? At an angle of 450, the back of the mirrors should be placed and stuck at the inner surface of the PVC pipes. The adhesive putty is used for doing this.

? Now use the adhesive again to attach the inner surfaces of the pipe. The size should be same.

? The larger pipe should slide over the smaller one.

? Use patterns and colours to decorate the pipes.

? Use the mirrors for gazing outside. The length of the periscope can be extended easily by doing this. The larger part of the pipe is used for sliding up and down for extending the length of the periscope. Explore the surroundings in a never-seen-before science project model. 3. Newton?s colour wheel

This science project model is used for showcasing how all the colours combine together to form white. It also shows how all the seven colours of a rainbow emerge from one single colour- white. This science project model works on the Newton?s theory of colour wheel.

Isaac Newton had demonstrated how white light is the combination of all the seven different colours that can be seen in a rainbow. With this model, a Newton?s disk is made which consists of all the seven colours. On rotating, the seven colours blend together and fade into white light. Apart from colours, the same can be demonstrated by using coloured lights.

All you need are-

? Crayons or paint colours

? Cardboard piece

? Wire

? Battery

? Motor

? Scissors

To make this science project model work, you can begin by-

? Start by cutting the cardboard in a circle, forming a disk.

? Now take a ruler and divide the circle in seven equal parts.

? Take your own choice crayon or paint colours, to paint the seven areas into seven colours of the rainbow: VIBGYOR (i.e. violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, red)

? Start by connecting battery and wires to the motor. Take help or guidance of some elder person and make a setup in such a way that the disk rotates like a fan on switching on the motor.

? When the disk starts rotating, you will notice how the seven colours merge together and only white colour is seen.

4. A Breathing machine

This science project model is easy to make and is a great way of explaining how the lungs work. This model is easy to make as long as everything is done perfectly and there is no exchange of air.

All you need are-

? Plastic airtight bottle

? Two red balloons and one blue balloon (colours can be chosen accordingly)

? Masking tapes

? Three straws

? Adhesive (For making things easier, make sure to use a strong adhesive. Avoid using cheap quality.)

To make this science project model work, you can begin by-

? Cut down the base of the plastic bottle in a nice straight cut. Make sure that it is evenly cut or else the bottom of the bottle won?t be able be sealed airtight later on. Keep the bottle cap properly since we would need it later on.

? Cut down the three straws in equal length of 10 cm. One of the straws represents the breathing tube or trachea that helps in connecting throat to the lungs.

? Now cut down the red balloons by their end. The red balloons are representative of the lungs in human body. This model uses the two red balloons like lungs from which air is inhaled and exhaled.

? Take one straw and push it 2 cm inside the red balloon. Wrap it around and deal it with a masking tape in order to make it an airtight joint. Use second straw and repeat the procedure. These would represent the bronchi.

? Take the third straw and cut it in the middle up to 2 cm. The cuts should be equally made. Flip it another side and cut it like before. Then, cut it again so that the straw is divided into four equal parts. Basically, the third straw has two equal cuts on one end while four equal on another.

? Now use the two partition side of the third straw and push into the two balloon straws with it. This would ensure that the balloon straws would be attached to ends of the two way split straw. Again, secure them with a masking tape in order to avoid any air exchange.

? Now take the bottle cap and cut a hole in the middle. It should be big enough for the four equal halves of the straw to get through it. Cap the bottle again while stretching the straw ends. Tightly seal the bottle cap with tape in order to avoid any air leak. The model needs to be completely air tight for working. Any air leak can cause the project to fail.

? Cut the blue balloon right below the neck. This part would represent the diaphragm. Now tie the end of the balloon like we do it usually. Stretch it and cover the exposed part of the bottle with it. The end of the bottle will be secured safely with this outstretched balloon. Like usual, secure it with a masking tape to ensure that the bottle is air tight.

? The working breathing model is now complete! For showcasing breathing in, you can pull down the ?diaphragm? or blue balloon and for breathing out or exhaling, you can release the blue balloon back to its initial position.

? Now take a chart paper and cut a human like figure to mask the model. Covering up the bottle is completely option. We are only doing this to make the model look more authentic. You simply have to place the bottle in such a way that the red balloons look like lung only. Inflating and deflating the balloon is indicative of respiratory system in the body.
