Swachh Bharat for The Future: Use of Digital Technology for a Clean State?Find Out!
With the growing concern of resource depletion along with the threat of ecosystem collapses and mass extinction, it is important for every global citizen to consider methods of a more sustainable and systematic waste disposal and management systems in order to preserve Mother Nature accompanied by a clean, civilized society. It is especially important for the youth of the present, who will be the future of the world, to take part in this conversation. Keeping in line with the same, Swachh Bharat Mission is a nation-wide state developed campaign launched from 2014-2019. It seeks to clean up the streets, roads and infrastructure of rural and urban India. Inspired by the Governments initiative, the youth of the country proposed a municipal waste management system and personal hygiene systems for restrooms.
What Is This Model?
This model discusses the use of digital technology in order to facilitate the Swachh Bharat Mission while also using the same for the production of electricity. A practical innovation in this model is the identification number placed on community garbage bins in order to simplify the work of the municipality. The bins, on becoming full, send a message through a triggered sensor that sends the address of the bin to the Municipality so that they are able to pick it up. It also sends a message to the mobile phone of the municipality supervisor regarding the same. The municipality promptly picks up the garbage and transports it to a garbage processing plant. Here, the biodegradable waste is converted to compost and is mixed in the gyrator to produce a slurry that is then put through electrolysis utilizing Zinc and Copper terminals. This electricity that is produced is stored in a battery and may be used to power LED streetlamps in the municipality. These LED lights, if made photosensitive through the use of light sensors, will automatically turn itself off during daylight hours and turns itself on during the nighttime.
With an interest to further personal hygiene, an automated toilet cleaning system has been proposed wherein technology such as automotive motors in order to ensure the collective hygiene of the people in the society while also providing an efficient method to utilize water, thus facilitating sustainable development. With the fast paced technological advancements that are seen today, innovative methods like this could perhaps be the answer to attaining the true balance between development and environmental preservation.
