If you dream of joining the Indian Air Force (IAF), then this article is the career guidance you need. The Indian Air Force (IAF) was officially established on 8 October 1932. Its first ac flight came into being on 01 Apr 1933. The IAF has completed the Platinum Jubilee of dedicated service to the nation.

The Indian Air Force has seven commands, of which five are operational and two functional, namely:

? HQ Central Air Command, Allahabad

? HQ Eastern Air Command, Shillong

? HQ Western Air Command, New Delhi

? HQ Southern Air Command, Thiruvananthapuram

? HQ South-Western Air Command, Gandhi Nagar

? HQ Maintenance Command, Nagpur and

? HQ Training Command, Bangalore

Eligibility Criteria and Higher Studies

After 10 + 2: There is a golden opportunity for young enthusiasts having 10+2 (Science) qualification with Physics and Maths to join as an officer in the Indian Air Force by appearing for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Examination conducted twice a year in all major cities throughout India.

After Graduation: Both men and women, who are graduates can enter the Air Force as officers through this route.

AFCAT Exam is held twice a year. The online exam is conducted by the Indian Air Force. The questions will be Objective type and the language of the questions will be English only for both AFCAT and EKT (For Technical Branch). There is a provision of negative marking in this exam.

Stage 1: AFCAT Written Exam for the Non-Technical candidates; and AFCAT+EKT for the Technical candidates.
Stage 2: AFSB Interview.
Stage 3: Medical Test.
