While pushing citizens of the country to adopt yoga as a lifestyle practice, Narendra Modi has also strongly advocated for this cause worldwide before the United Nations General Assembly. As a result of his statements, the members of the United Nations, in a record 175 members advocating for this cause, declared on June 21st as International Yoga Day. In this regard, the World Health Organization has also urged its member states to help people who have insufficient physical inactivity.
