What is your definition of success?

Everyone has a different perception of success. Renting an apartment and living independently can mean success to you or owning a villa can give you a sense of achievement. There is no right and wrong answer. There is no one way to achieve success or feel fulfilment.

When it comes to who you are and what you want to achieve, look around you. The people you hang out with, the hobbies you take up, the activities you invest your time in will shed light on what the way ahead looks for you.

The road to success can be challenging, but how you overcome challenges can truly build character. Try out these hacks to help you move upward and onwards in your career.

It is a step-by-step process

You can work every day towards a goal. It will take time to achieve the end goal. Hence it is crucial to celebrate milestones and small wins. It will keep you motivated for the long haul. You will develop skills along the way, and those will help you to progress even further.

Work towards building your emotional intelligence

Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is often stressed upon, but what about your Emotional Quotient (EQ)? As humans, our emotional well-being matters, when unchecked, they can create havoc. Your emotional and mental well-being go hand in hand and can impact each other. It is essential you manage your emotions and don?t suppress your feelings. Emotional Intelligence even extends into social interactions. Reading the body language of people during conversations and picking up on subtle cues is important during interactions.

Nurture high potential traits

Dealing with uncertainty, courage, ability to learn, curiosity and ability to engage in a healthy competition are critical traits found in high achievers. These qualities determine how well you do in your career. While you may be excellent in your specialized skills, if you don?t dare to step up when needed, opportunities will pass by you. Do you have the desire to learn more about your field and keep up to date? It is crucial to stay ahead in your field always.

Learn to get back up

Failure and success are not found on separate roads, but failure is part and parcel of success. If you give up every time you encounter failure, will you truly achieve anything? Every time you get back up, you become stronger, and every time you make a comeback, you learn better. Through this process, you will evolve. Let?s say you easily get triggered when you don?t meet timelines. So what do you think is the best course of action? One solution is that you make a priority list a day ahead so when you begin your day, you know what you need to tackle.

Put it into action

It starts with a dream, but what comes after that? Imagine if Jeff Bezos had a vision of setting up Amazon but never began working towards it, Amazon wouldn?t have set itself up. Jeff Bezos started Amazon in the garage of his rented apartment. He took conscious action towards his dream, that how it all began. You need to plan and strategize and then put your plans into action and work towards it daily.
