In recent time has seen a surge of renewable energy. Costly fuel is not just economically inefficient, it is also hazardous to the environment and the depleting natural resources. Harvesting machines are harmful to the health of the farmer and are bulky to use.
Solar Paddy Harvester is the solution to reduce the cost and carbon footprint for farmers. It also aims at reducing the weight of the entire set up. Recently a group of students from the Rajiv Gandhi Institute modeled solar paddy harvester that channeled solar energy into electricity units that powers the compact. This model was developed under the supervision of departmental head, D Devarasiddappa who describes the set up as, the entire power source is packed and placed inside a bag that can be operated easily with a power source unit carried on the shoulder. It also can be used as a domestic powerhouse interchangeably.
The paddy harvester was modeled at the National Innovation Talent Contest for Polytechnics (NITCP) Kolkata.
The final year of automobile engineering students of Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic developed this low cost-lightweight, environment-friendly manually operated solar paddy harvester suitable for small farmers. That can be availed in less than Rs. 14 thousand.
This model called MOSPH has been developed under the guidance of in-charge, head of the department, D Devarasiddappa.
? Farmers who cannot afford the purchase of heavy machinery can use this MOSPH
? Carbon footprint is reduced due to control of emissions
? Natural resources that are on the verge of exhaustion can be used sparingly
? The natural ecosystem is not disturbed due to emissions
? Domestic electricity generation can be supported
? Industries with the organic farming business model
? Farm animals exploitation can be controlled
Automobile Engineering is one of the disciplines of engineering that trains students in manufacturing, designing and operating automobiles. It is a branch of vehicle engineering that manages aspects like electrical, mechanical, software electronic, and safety elements of buses, motorcycles, trucks, etc.
