Industrial effluents are hazardous to the environment in various ways. Industrial waste is the waste produced by industrial activity which includes any material that is rendered useless during a manufacturing process such as that of factories, industries, mills, and mining operations. Types of industrial waste include dirt and gravel, masonry and concrete, scrap metal, oil, solvents, chemicals; scrap lumber, even vegetable matter from restaurants. Industrial waste may be solid, liquid or gaseous. It may be hazardous or non-hazardous waste. Hazardous waste may be toxic, ignitable, corrosive, reactive, or radioactive. Industrial waste may pollute the air, the soil, or nearby water sources, eventually ending up in the sea. Industrial waste is often mixed into municipal waste, making accurate assessments difficult. An estimate for the US goes as high as 7.6 billion tons of industrial waste produced every year. Most countries have enacted legislation to deal with the problem of industrial waste, but strictness and compliance regimes vary. Enforcement is always an issue. But now we can use this weakness as our strength. Let?s see how.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

The industrial dirty waste water comes out from the industry and goes through water purification system. Water gets purified and goes through electrolysis system. In the electrolysis system the water compound i.e. H2O is split up into oxygen and hydrogen separately. Hydrogen is passed in the gas engines and with the help of a generator it is converted into electrical energy and can be used in various electrical impliments. Oxygen can be stored in cylinders and can be used in hospitals for patients. Hydrogen can be used in car engines. The electricity that we?re using for electrolysis system is generated from solar power panels. Thus, it saves electricity. We get cheap fuels like oxygen and hydrogen with minimal efforts.

A CAREER IN WASTE MANAGEMENT

What do waste management professionals do?

The most common role in waste management is that of the waste management officer. These are the guys with the huge responsibility of handling the nation?s waste on a day-to-day basis and disposing of it in the most suitable way.

A major chunk of a waste management officer?s job involves providing advice and guidance to companies and industrial waste sites about issues concerning their waste disposal. A lot of businesses don?t know how to store waste, let alone know where to dispose of it. You?ll be using your nous, your networking and your managerial skills to start new recycling schemes and waste disposal programmes. You?ll therefore need to possess a great knowledge of the industry and the environment and have the ability to come up with new innovative ideas.
