Hi there,
Do you want to set a Guinness World Record? If that excites you, then you would love to get to know Jyoti Amge, a Guinness World Record holder.

You may be wondering who is Jyoti Amge? Well! She is an Indian woman holding the Guinness World Record for being the ?World?s Shortest Woman.? She has been holding onto this record since 2011, before which she was the ?World?s Smallest Teenager.? She has a "form of dwarfism called Achondroplasia," as per Guinness. Besides this she even holds a record in the LIMCA Book of Records in 2007. While she beat the former record holder Bridgette Jordan by 6.2 cm, the record for the shortest woman in history is still held by Pauline Musters (Netherlands, 1876-1895) who was only 61 cm tall.

She is born on 16th December, 1993, in Nagpur. Jyoti measures 61.95 cm (2 ft) tall, making her shorter than the average two-year-old child. She weighs just 11lb (5 kg). She stopped growing after her second birthday. Her parents Kishanji Amge and Ranjana Amge, her three sisters Rupali, Vaishali and Archana and a brother named Satish are part of her family.

Some of the issues Jyoti Amge struggled with while growing up included picking up things kept on high desks, difficulties in finding various items that aligned to her size and difficulty in finding dresses that fit well. Due to her size, all of Jyoti's clothes and jewelry are custom made. Even plates and utensils are made specially as normal-sized silverware is too big to be handled by her. Jyoti has attended regular school since she was 4 and other than a small desk and chair, she is treated like any other pupil. Just like most other teenage girls, Jyoti loves fashion, make-up and talking on the phone.

However, the main challenge that she faces right now has to do with her bones as they are getting more and more brittle with every passing year. This has kept her family worried for the last few years. While travelling around the world, she is always accompanied by either her mother or her older sister Archana, who feels that it is her responsibility to take care of her younger sister as their parents are aging. Though she has faced many challenges, she is proud of her height as being on Guinness Book of Records has allowed her to visit various places.

Jyoti Amge is an Indian actress. Her wax statue has been installed in Celebrity Wax Museum in Lonavala, a hill station in Pune district. She likes acting and her biggest dream is to become a Hollywood actress and to win an Oscar.

She has been featured in the documentary series, Body Shock: Two Foot Tall Teen in the year 2009. Jyoti became a guest participant in the sixth season of the reality show, Bigg Boss in the year 2012. She has also hosted the show, Lo Show Dei Record on Canale 5 (an Italian TV channel). In the same year, she met Chandra Bahadur Dangi, who was declared as the world?s shortest man from Nepal. They both posed for the Guinness World Records? 57th Edition in the year 2013.

She got her breakthrough after she fulfilled her ultimate dream of acting in Hollywood in the year 2014, as she was cast in the fourth season of the American Horror Story: Freak Show. She played as Ma Petite for 12 episodes of the popular series. The producer of the show saw the video of Guinness and found Jyoti?s website and so she was cast in the show. Jyoti is more focused now on working in Hollywood.

Jyoti has done an album entitled Party Special with the popular Bollywood singer-composer, Mika Singh in 2007. She acted in the 2010 film, Pan Supari and appeared in many television shows in Brazil, Tokyo, Europe, USA, China and more.

Jyoti is truly inspiring for the way she chooses to live her life. She has faced many difficulties because of her height but that has not stopped her from reaching new heights.

How to set or break a world record?

To become a record-holder requires determination, extraordinary skills and commitment. Before applying for an existing record, check the current information and make sure you?ve got what it takes to break the record. If you are suggesting a new record idea, spend some time searching the current records to see what may already have been achieved in your area of expertise. Every newly approved record idea has to be significantly different from existing records and demonstrate a completely new skill. Being the first to suggest a record does not immediately qualify for acceptance, with around 60% of applications for new records being rejected. However, new exciting ideas to reflect the world?s diversity are embraced.

Ahead of applying, follow the key steps:

? Choose a world record to attempt.

? Apply and wait to receive the guidelines.

? Understand the requirements and evidence needed for the attempt.

? Practice until you are confident to break the world record.

? Carry out your official world record attempt.

? Submit your evidence, cover letter and all other required documents.

? If you are successful, you will receive an official Guinness World Records certificate.

Now that you are inspired and have the required information to set your own record, we can?t wait to see your name in the Guinness Book of Records!
