Botany is a branch of biology which is based on the science of plants. The scientist who specializes in botany is called a Botanist. The word botany is derived from the Greek word ?Botane? which means grass, pasture or fodder.

Botany contains the study of a plant in various aspects like life cycle,

the study of parts of plants from leaves, stem, bark to the micro-level of cells and plant reproduction and uses of plants. Botany is the basic element and most important in the agriculture industry.

Botany is also considered of great importance in microbiology for culture, making hybrids, the study of cell structure, DNA, etc. There are various fields like plant microbiology, plant biotechnology, agriculture, nutrition, etc. which are based on the botany.
